Hello world of critical thinking!

Welcome,

My name is Marie Cheak.  I am interested in research, debate, and pedagogy on critical thinking.   I am specifically interested in research on critical thinking and environmental education as a context for studying critical thinking.  I have developed and field tested the Critical Thinking Test for Environmental Education (CTTEE).  This instrument was designed to be used to measure the influence of using the environment as a context to increase students’ critical thinking skills.  The quality of the technical adequacy of this instrument has been established.  It has been used in different studies.  These studies used samples of students from fifth grade on through seniors in college.  The technical adequacy is robust across levels.  I am posting this blog to provide a platform for interested individuals (teachers, students, researchers, other) to debate and inform each other about ideas (concerns, conflicts, challenges, successes) with respect to assessment, instruction and engagement relative to critical thinking.  This does not have to be limited to the discipline of environmental education.  Other disciplines are pertinent to this discussion because critical thinking may be context / content specific.  Please log on and tell us about your interest in this area.  Tell us who you are and how you became interested.
